What is wood veneer?
Wood veneer is a natural surfacing material made by slicing timber into thin, uniform layers with special machines. These layers are then applied to a 6 mm MDF core through a specialized bonding process, forming the surface for veneered doors.
What is the production process for wood-veneered doors?
A wood-veneered door is manufactured from three main components. The frame (Seren) is the part that surrounds all four sides of the door, made of finger-jointed and glued solid wood, typically measuring 30×50 mm. The inner filling (İç dolgu) is a honeycomb paper core applied to support the door’s body, which increases its resistance while keeping it lightweight. The wood surface (Ahşap yüzey) is a wood veneer that has been bonded to a 6 mm thick MDF panel, providing the desired wood pattern and color for the door.
Before edge banding, the door is sized to its final dimensions. Openings for the lock and door handle are then routed out. A varnish finish is applied to the surface of wood-veneered doors.
The production process for a wood-veneered door is carried out as follows: assembling the frame using the stiles and rails, gluing and pressing the honeycomb filling and the wood veneer surfaces, sizing, applying the edge banding, routing the lock and handle locations, cleaning off dust and residues, and finally, packaging.
What are the technical specifications of a wood-veneered door?
The leaf thickness of a wood-veneered door is 42 mm, which includes a 6 mm thick MDF panel and a 30 mm thick internal frame. The edge stiles are made from solid spruce or fir wood with a moisture content between 10% and 14%. A honeycomb filling, made from Kraft paper with air vents, is placed within this framework, which features reinforced lock and hinge areas.
Wood-veneered door surfaces do not require paint; only a varnish finish is applied. The standard wood-veneared door leaf is produced in a 90×209 cm size. However, they can also be manufactured in custom sizes for rooms and bathrooms (WCs). Furthermore, it is possible to produce them in any desired width as a double-leaf door.
What are the advantages of wood-veneered doors?
Wood-veneered doors are more economical compared to door models made entirely of solid wood. Since they feature a natural wood veneer, their appearance is identical to that of a solid wood door. The natural wood on the surface provides the authentic feel of real wood.
Additional advantages include:
They have a stylish and elegant appearance.
They are hygienic, easy to maintain, and simple to install.
They are resistant to sunlight, scratches, and impacts.
They are long-lasting and durable.
A wide variety of wood veneer alternatives are available, offering many options.
They are suitable for use in all interior spaces.
